Greetings
- Australians shake hands at the beginning and end of meetings. Women often
give a kiss on the cheek.
- Australians tire of hearing tourists overuse the informal "G'day"
greeting.
Introductions
- Full names are used initially; however, Australians are quick to go to a
first-name basis.
- Long academic or professional titles do not impress Australians.
Appointments
- Most executives are friendly and relatively easy to approach. Make your
arrangements one month in advance, and confirm them by phone.
Negotiating
- Presentations filled with hype and excitement may inspire Australians to
deflate the presenter with caustic humor.
- Australians sometimes emphasize profit over market share.
Entertaining
- In an Australian pub, each person is responsible for buying a round of
drinks. Never miss your turn to "shout for a round."
